senate leaders, dick durbin and one of the top republicans in the senate. >> chris, i found it interesting, i don't know what's going to happen with the republican party. we had the winter meetings with the gop and bobby jindal saying the republicans have to stop being the party of stupid. >> that's right. that is what he said. obviously one of the things they point to were a couple of candidates for the senate republicans who talked about rape as legitimate rape. i think the party hasn't dealt with the central issue, and that is while its conservative principles, they still believe and they may be right, it's fundamentally a center right country, i think they get defined by what it's against, gay marriage or taxes on anybody, even people making over a million dollars a year, and they have to find a way, and i think they realize this, but it's hard to do when you're in opposition and there isn't a single leader to express what they're for. and to make a message that is appealing to a lot of people. for instance, on the issue of immigration reform. they got a lot of work to do.
